This past year I majorly purged our toy clutter to prepare for our move to southeast Texas. I enlisted the help of an amazing cousin who loves to organize and after much sorting and donating what was left were classic toys, consumable toys (like Playdough), and books. (And a few favorite toys of course!)
But immediately I noticed something – with less toy clutter, my kids were able to find more toys to play with! (*mindblown*) So this year for Christmas I am going to combat my inner need to buy a ton of Christmas knick-knacks and buy smart in the categories of “want, need, wear, read”. See below for some ideas for a kiddo who LOVES science.
- Lego Boost Coding Robot A classic Lego toy you can build, code, and play with over and over again.
- Crayola Color Chemistry Set A colorful crayon chemistry set with 50 experiments? Build the volcano, erupt it with fizzy tablets, chunk and move to the next experiment.
- Bit Coding Robot by Ozobot I’ve been told by much cooler moms than me that this is the ‘it’ science toy this year!
- IMAX Dream Big Movie Who doesn’t need an inspiring movie for our kids about engineering dreams into reality?
- Kids Rock Universe Color Changing Umbrella We are always looking for an umbrella in the spring. (Heck, in our new hometown I think it’s rained for 12 weeks straight!) This year we’ll be prepared with a color changing one!
- 2019 Earth and Space Wall Calendar Start the new year off with amazing views from NASA with a 2019 Calendar.
- Cat and Jack Girl Power Science shirt We LOVE this shirt with a great message and a hint of shimmer!
- Periodic table elemental bow I just love this bow that will be under our “Chemistree” (did you see how I worked that in ;-)!)
- “Fleur-de-Lift-off” Rocket leggings We had an awesome aunt that gave these leggings last year. I love this clothing line too!
- Gutsy Girls: Strong Christian Women who Impacted the World Need a Christian science role model? Look no further than Gutsy Girls – you can start off the series with real-life astronomer Dr. Jennifer Wisemen.
- Halley Harper: Science Girl Extraordinaire Need a chapter book series that includes follow-along science experiments? Pick up book 1 and book 2 of these quick read chapter books and learn a little motion and chemistry this Christmas with Halley Harper!
- Women in Science I love these historical books with short biographies of real women in science. There are over 50 of these easy to read stories of real-life scientists.
