Thank goodness for this summer science bucket list. It has saved me a few times now when my 5 year old just wants mom to entertain her! The square bubbles experiment was quick to set up and I could do it with supplies I had on hand. Here’s how you can too!
- Do you have some pipe cleaners?
- Do you have straws?
- Do you have dish soap?
Well then guess what? You’ve got the ingredients for being the amazing mom-magician-scientist that I knew you are!
I’ll admit, I was a little intimidated when I realized I’d have to make a cubed frame for the bubble. But through my trial and error, I have simplified it for you!
1. Make a tripod with pipe cleaners by bending 1 pipe cleaner into a V-shape and wrap a 1/2 a pipe cleaner around the middle.
2. Make 4 of these tripods.
3. Cut straws and put it over the pipe cleaner. Make sure there is enough pipe cleaner on the end.
4. Twist all the tripod ends together to form a cubed frame. (That wasn’t so bad was it?)
5. Mix Dawn dish soap and water in a bowl large enough to submerse the frame.
And…. ta-da! You have an amazing square bubble!
This was so cool that I had a request for a pyramid bubble and a star bubble. Here is my attempt at a pyramid but I didn’t do the star – I had to draw the line somewhere.
Now, if you love science then I have a request!
1.) Leave a comment below this post by clicking on ‘leave a comment’:
I would LOVE to hear from you! Please tell me what you think of these experiments. Are they helpful? Are they inspiring you to try science with your kids?
2.) Feel free to share this post with your friends by clicking the ‘Share’ link below.
I would LOVE for you to share these experiments with your friends to find out what they think and hopefully make a few new friends too!

Most of all, I would just love to hear from you and to know how my posts can be more helpful! I don’t have all the answers about science – heck I’m intimidated with pipe cleaners – but I do love exploring and finding things out alongside my kiddos. I hope you do to!

looks good Tracy and Allie. Wonder if a fan will blow the bubble out in tact?

We should try it Uncle Kevin and see what happens! Thanks for commenting on the post!
