Oh, it’s the most wonderful time of the year (for this science mom)! It’s our annual neighborhood Halloween Science Party! Here is a peek into our potions and pumpkins for Halloween 2025!
First, my She Loves Science friends on Instagram voted for my “punny” costume this year – Holy Guacamole! (my kids approved!)

This year the science involved fire, magic, ghosts, and explosions! Most of the demonstrations worked, one of them did not (boo), but we all had fun ringing in Halloween with science!
We always put out an ooey-gooey touch station for some spooky “guess-what-your-touching” sensory fun! It was complete with a brain (cauliflower), two hearts (boiled tomatoes), eyeballs (water beads), intestines (boiled spaghetti), and a bit of oobleck (ghost guts)!
Here are a few video clips of all the science fun we had. Some you can find on Instagram Reels and some were recorded by my amazing neighbors. All in all, it was a spooky fun Halloween! Enjoy!
Disappearing Ink
I love using these Frixion pens for some spooky Halloween writing that disappears with heat! You can make it reappear with ice too!
Flying Tea Bags
Always a fan favorite and we had a fire extinguisher at the ready in case the flaming tea bags got out of hand!

Flying Toilet Paper
My son Andrew wanted to assist in this fun toilet paper Bernoulli demonstration! It was a hit!
Mentos Geyser
An oldie but a goodie – and oh-so messy!
The grand finale – Pumpkin Elephant Toothpaste!
