When I started writing this blog in 2014, I had several friends ask me if I could write a book for their daughters that would encourage them to continue loving science. I thought back to my childhood and realized that I never had a science-loving girl hero in all the books I read growing up. Sure I loved Punky Brewster, Pippi Longstockings, and Encyclopedia Brown but I wanted a girl hero that used science to save the day.
So last year I wrote book 1 of the Halley Harper Science Girl Extraordinaire series that followed quirky science-loving Halley (named after Halley’s Comet of course) as she used the Laws of Motion to save her favorite summer camp, her best friend, and herself. The book can be found here.
Now I’m SO thrilled to announced the second installment of Halley Harper, Science Girl Extraordinaire will be release July 24, 2018!
Halley believes science is magic, just like her friendship with Gracelyn. Until one day they can no longer be together. How will she be able to go back to Camp Eureka without her best friend and partner in science?
At camp, Halley has to confront a new mean girl and try to survive a magic chemistry show that proves to be explosive. To make matters worse, Halley loses her diary where she wrote her inner most thoughts about her friends and the secret treasure of Camp Eureka. Can she save her friendship and locate her diary before it falls into the wrong hands?
Get excited, grab book one to get ready, and check out the book trailer below…. (shh…this is my favorite book in the series so far!)
