Is it just me, or did 2018 go by in a flash? (Yes, pun intended ;-)) Here’s to savoring every moment with the ones we love and trying out new adventures in 2019!
What you need: empty tea bag (pro tip: Have several on hand since it took us a few attempts to have a tea bag take flight), permanent marker, match or lighter
How you do it:
- Find a room with high ceilings or head outside
- Cut tea bag and empty contents
- Draw the year on it
- Stand the tea bag up with the open side down
- Light the top part of the bag
What’s the science? My son who loves all things fire – firefighters, firetrucks, and fighting fires was amazed at this experiment. I used this science lesson to teach that hot air rises and this is why we drop to the floor when trying to get out of a smoked filled room. We also discussed that the hot air and smoke lift the teabag because it is porous.
